My Husband's Response to My Blog

"I live it, I don't need to read it!"

Did I learn anything by this....NO! I am not surprised by his remarks, and if you know him you shouldn't be either!

The Ice Cream Cake...

Have you ever listened to a song so much you know all the words, only later to realize that you were way off! I got quite a laugh today when my daughter sang Smash Mouth's All Star. She sang "The ice cream cake is getting pretty thin..." the song says "The ice we skate is getting pretty thin". I couldn't contain my amusement and laughed a good laugh, one of the best I have had in a long time.

What I learned was more of an affirmation in the belief that children bring so much joy to their parents... and plenty of blackmail.

I Couldn't Get a Word In

Someone in my family received a phone call from a utility company and got off the phone quite frustrated saying, "She talked really fast and I couldn't get a word in. Then she was done talking and she just hung up on me! I didn't even get to tell her anything!"

What I learned by this... Not everyone knows about automated phone calls.

Portfolio Panic

So... I am just weeks, yes weeks, away from completing a very large goal. I am going to finish my masters program in June. (When I say it that way it seems so far away!) In reality I am half way finished with my 9th class. I only have one more after this! YEAH! Well "Yeah" is what I felt until I realized that I have not started on my portfolio yet.

At the completion of my final class I have to turn in a CD that has 45 different outcomes, and for each outcome I have to go back through each assignment that I have completed during the duration of the program and find the ONE assignment that best shows I am competent at that outcome AND write a one page rational as to why I chose that particular assignment. (If your counting, that is a total of 45 assignments and 45 rationals.) Needless to say I am panicking! I have set a goal to do one or two each night in hopes of getting it finished in time to mail in and graduate! In reality I will probably only get three done each week, but three a week for 16 weeks will get me finished on time!

Don't feel too sorry for me; the last week of each course there are no assignments due, this is the time they give you to work on your portfolio. I however, used this week to slack off and regroup!

What did I learn.... DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!

My Motto

Teach me daily... my motto. Of course this stems from be being a teacher, but it really goes a bit further. I have been contemplating this "blog" thing for quite some time now, and really the only thing holding me back was not thinking I would have anything to write about. But I realize now that I am full of useless information that I want to remember and share with the world. I plan to remind myself of all those things that I learn each day. So here I go I have taken the leap, and started to blog.

SO... What did I learn today? Setting up and posting my first blog was much less painful than I had originally thought! It took less than 10 minutes!
